I have been studying the connections between the eastern and western dragons in the old age folklore and legends. Dragons existed as claimed in both east and west stories before their cultures meet (and before east was discovered by Marco Polo.Do Dragons ever existed in this world?

No, no dragons. All manner of monsters exist across cultures, from sea serpents to hairy ape-men, vampires to were-beasts, ghosts to devils. Some things just strike a similar chord in humans. I've often wondered if dinosaur bones ever influenced the tales of dragons and other monsters?

I think they did. But they have been made into mythical, magical beasts in recent times. The "dragons" mentioned in old writings and in the King James version of the Bible were probably just dinosaurs that lived into modern times. The name dinosaur wasn't invented until recent times, until then dinosaurs were called dragons, leviathan, and behemoth. If one believes that the world is not billions of years old and was created by God about 6000 years ago there's no reason not to believe that dinosaurs lived with people. So who knows there might still be some dragons out there!
Yes I do believe that there once was dragons. If you read the book of Job in the Old Testement you will find God describing a creature that breathes fire and has scales like armor. Also watch a movie called "Dragons: A Fantasy Made Real" made by Discovery Channel. It has some very compelling ideas in it.

Yes, but they are now called dinosaurs. Evolutionists have dismissed cave pictures of people with what looks exactly like dinosaurs as fantasy. But all other animals in the paintings are known to have lived. That is because dinosaurs are one of their best "proofs" that the earth is "billians" of years old. Dragons are mythical beings, the reason that many cultures have dragons in their legends and mythology might be that fact that dinosaur bones are found all over the world. Ancient people that do not really know what they were often construct imaginative beings based on the jumble of bones they found. In china dragon bones found there were often thought to have magical properties and are capable of curing most diseases thus are often used to be ground up and sold as medicines or engraved in oracle bones and used in divination. So its not surprising that both cultures evolve notion of dragons, you must understand though that even if many cultures share beliefs in dragons, the mythology, details and description varies. In China dragons were gods or dieties that are capable of affecting everything from weather to crops and are much revered. In the west the nation of dragons are mostly of monsters that causes destruction and terrorize people whereby knights were summoned to vanquished them. Their look are also different, Chinese dragons are often pictured as worm like beings with manes and only two front feet while western notion of dragons show them with four limbs, wings and scaled bodies.



p.s. Annagirl28 humans and dinosaurs never ever met, the dinosaurs died out long before the first appearance of humans. Comics like BC and Alley Oop got it wrong.

He says that there were dinosaurs, but people called them dragons, before the scientists made up the word dinosaur.



I believe in creation and that not all dinosaurs were extinct before humans were here. So since dinos and humans were here at almost the same time, there is lots of ancient stories and paintings about dinosaurs even before the first bones were discovered.
dragons can go both ways. they could be real but they have evlutinized int anther format creture we know to day. like a snake ot thouse huge lizards witch i forgot what theyre called salamanca or something. or maybe people assumed thay were dragont when people saw a bird caring a snake and they thought it was a dragon with wings. ohh and if u get more info on dragons emailme cause i think dragons r cool.

there was this interesting program on the discovery channel a while back. It was about this group of guys who thought that maybe dragons acually lived with dinosaurs and developed thereafter. Took bones and the structures and took this to the dragon cultures all over the world. I dont know that it proved anything significant for me. (I am not a big dragon fan) However a friend of mine (he is obsessed with dragons) was quite compelled by this program to search further. He started by going to the discovery channel site and searched from there.
