Well, some wonderful ones of that ilk that I don't see on your list include:
The Little Mermaid
Aladdin
Kiki's Delivery Service
The Cat Returns
Tokyo Godfathers
Porco Rosso
Ponyo
Tenchi Muyo! In Love
transformers. the ORIGANAL MOVIE
monster house
1. I didn't see Akira. If it's there, sorry. If so watch Galaxy Express 999 anyhow.
2. Sylvain Chomet's The Triplets of Belleville from 2003 and his more recent the Illusionist from 2010 show what you can do with animation beyond funny animals and fantasy.
3. 1954's Hansel and Gretel: an Opera Fantasy is one of the best stop motion movies ever.
4. I will say this because I believe it, not because I expect 1926's The Adventures of Prince Achmed by Lotte Reisinger, a silhouette animation which is the oldest surviving feature length animation (but not the oldest -- that was probably an Argentine film which disappeared or dissolved in the early sixties). I LOVE this movie though so I can't put it below four or five on any list.
5. I don't see Pinocchio on that list. Go back and watch it again. While you are at it 101 Dalmations and Peter Pan.
I'm going to go with some shorts now. ANY Fleischer brothers Popeyes -- the earliest ones when he lived in a metropolis that looked like new york. Most of their Betty Boops too. Those have been called racist with some justification, though they gave Cab Calloway among others some nice paychecks, and were slammed at the time because Betty was so "loose" They ARE classics, though. Betty's fan base has survived the Fleischer studios.
Any Leiji Matsumoto Captain Harlock shows -- which are connected to Galaxy Express 999 but the various series do contradict each other.
Flinstones Top Cat, Yogi Bear and Scooby Doo where are you from Hanna Barbara.
Anything -- AT ALL by Osamu Tezuka. He was a unique genius.
